Mrs. Lisa DiGiovanna (Mrs. DiG) has been a teacher at Holy Spirit School for the past 36 years. She currently teaches seventh and eighth grade math. She graduated from Central Michigan University with an undergraduate degree in Education and from Grand Valley State University with a Master’s in Education degree.

Her faith life is very important to her. “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me,” is the quote through which Mrs. DiGiovanna lives her life. She shares this philosophy with her students as well as with her own children. Mrs. DiGiovanna loves spending time with her husband, Bryan, her twins, daughter, Rylee and son, Reece. Her family would not be complete without her fur baby, Bear. Mrs. DiGiovanna and her family enjoy spending time together watching sporting events, playing cards and hanging out at the lake.

Mrs. Meg Hoeft grew up in Mishawaka, Indiana, graduated from St. Joseph’s High School, and then attended Indiana State University where she completed her degree in elementary education.

She has been in the classroom for 22 years. This is her third year at Holy Spirit. Prior to moving to Grand Rapids, she lived in Charleston, South Carolina. He is looking forward to a great year in middle school.

Mr. Pat Kalahar is in his 13th year at Holy Spirit, serving as principal and 8th grade English teacher. He received his bachelor’s degree from Albion College and his master’s degree from Saint Thomas University in Miami, Florida.

Mr. Kalahar and his family are parishioners at Holy Spirit, and he is a lector at Sunday Mass. His favorite saint is Saint Francis de Sales, whose teachings have guided much of Mr. Kalahar’s faith development. He has enjoyed several retreats at Camp de Sales near his hometown of Jackson, Michigan. As far as modern catechists, Mr. Kalahar enjoys listening to, and reading books from, Matthew Kelly.

In his spare time, Mr. Kalahar likes going on vacations with his family, going to the beach, exercising, trying new restaurants, golfing, and doing anything outdoors. He has been blessed to go to many awesome places in America and especially enjoys exploring big cities.  A little known fact about Mr. Kalahar is after high school he was torn between going to college and going to be a professional baseball umpire.

Mrs. Elizabeth Liebler is in her twelfth year at Holy Spirit School.  She teaches 6th grade English, Literature, and Social Studies.  Mrs. Liebler was born and raised in Muskegon and graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central. (Go Crusaders!)  She earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Ferris State University. 

Mrs. Liebler enjoys listening to Contemporary Christian Music.  Her favorite prayer is the Serenity Prayer. Mrs. Liebler has one son named Griffin with her husband, Jesse.  She also has a miniature dachshund named Bitsy. In her free time, Mrs. Liebler loves spending time with her family and friends, watching TV and football, and lounging in the sunshine by the pool.

Mrs. Michelle Null is currently in her 27th year of teaching at Holy Spirit School. She is one of the middle school teachers and her roles include teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth grade science. In addition, Mrs. Null serves as technology and Infinite Campus coordinator for our school. Mrs. Null is a proud graduate of West Catholic and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and education from Aquinas College, as well as a master’s degree in science education from Aquinas College.

Mrs. Null enjoys spending time with her family, especially her husband, Scott, and son, Alex. In her spare time, she enjoys watching sporting events, reading non-fiction faith books, spending time by the pool, and being involved in her parish community. Mrs. Null is very proud of her Polish heritage and her favorite saint is St. Maximilian Kolbe.

Mrs. Melissa Swider has been a teacher at Holy Spirit School for over 30 years. She spent many years teaching third grade and, in recent years, has served as a reading specialist and a 7th-grade literature teacher. She holds an undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan and a Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching with a K–12 Reading Endorsement from Aquinas College.

In addition to her work at Holy Spirit, she has been a college instructor for pre-service teachers at Baker College in Muskegon and Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. She has a husband and a son in college. Outside of school Mrs. Swider enjoys reading, sleeping, exercising, and spending time with her family.

Mr. Tom Wisniewski (Mr. W) is currently in his 21st year of teaching at Holy Spirit School. Prior to teaching at the school, he served two years as a Religious Education Instructor for the parish. Mr. Wisniewski earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Grand Valley State University. Previously he had earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Ferris State University and spent more than a decade working in production management.

Mr. Wisniewski and his wife, Brenda, have been members of Holy Spirit Parish since 1994. They have three daughters: Amanda, Rachel, and Sydney. They are also blessed with four grandchildren: Aubree, Finn, Maddie, and Cade.

Enjoying playing and coaching several sports, he has previously served as a high school assistant coach for both the Caledonia and Sparta football programs and his daughters’ softball teams. Mr. Wisniewski supports his favorite college and professional teams, especially University of Michigan football and hockey and all of the Detroit professional teams.
